Growing Ghoens: Week 40 Bump Date

We made it to FORTY WEEKS!!

(although clearly I'm writing this AFTER you were born.. but I'll take everyone up to our finallllllll day of you in my belly & THEN I'll share your beautiful birth story!!)

How does it feel like SO long ago, but just yesterday that you were the size of a blueberry in my belly??

Pregnancy, growing a HUMAN, is seriously the most incredible thing I've ever done.. well, besides birthing you!

I've said it so many times, but I'll say it again.
I'm going to miss this experience.
Feeling you grow & develop inside of me has been the greatest gift!
Thank you, Lord for this!!

Sunday, June 11th, was your due date.
___________________________________

We got up, got ready & went to church. Our small group prayed over us & wished us "luck" heading into the week, hoping that the next time they heard from us that we'd be a family of three.

Monday, June 12th, we were 40 + 2.
___________________________________

Your Aunt Tecia was in town for a family beach trip, so I met her & your MiMi for brunch & then went to sit on the beach for a few hours. After that, I came home to workout!!

Tuesday, June 13th, we were 40 + 3.
___________________________________

This was the day of my 40 week appointment with the midwife. I went in for an NST, which is a non-stress test. Basically, the midwife wanted to check on you & I in a very non-invasive way.

They sat me in a recliner for 25 minutes to monitor your heart rate, any movements & potential contractions.

Let's just say your activity was more than I thought.

And when I STOOD up after it was over..

What a SURPRISE!!

My water broke..

Coming SOON!!

Our birth story.

Growing Ghoens: Week 39 Bump Date

39 Weeks.. I keep thinking, "could this be the week?!"

My belly is the size of a watermelon, baby girl.
What size does that mean YOU are??
Hopefully smaller than that!! HA

We are PRAYING praying for a healthy arrival very soon!! I don't think I've ever been more ready for something in my entire life!!

___________________________________

Mommy's accountability partners, who have been praying for you so fervently, especially can't wait to meet you. They coordinated a little gift card shower for us from our the small group at church! So so thoughtful + helpful!!

Thank you, Hollen & Taylor.
We love you!

Mommy had a little sign happen like week that means you might REALLY be making your appearance anytime now. So your dad & I have gotten creative with things to try to see if it'll help you come see us asap!!

Just to name a couple (& keep it PG.. HA), we tried:

Thai Food
A a 9 mile bike ride at your Mimi & Papa's house
Even a pedicure.. shucks right?? :P
(I heard they sometimes hit labor inducing pressure points!!)

I keep snapping photos of my belly every day to see if it & YOU are dropping!

#BellyTracking

Your movements are so fun & so BIG.
I think I can feel you getting into position to come see us.

Gosh, I'm going to MISS having you close to me in this way..

Your dad has been SO helpful.. making sure I'm fed, trying to keep me distracted from obsessing over when you're coming & helping me practice breathing/stretches for your birth! I'm beyond blessed to have him.. & so are you!

You still seem to share my DEEP love for breakfast food.. because we seem to somehow be eating it even MORE now!!

You might just come out of the womb asking for protein pancakes, turkey bacon & yogurt bowls :)

We're alssssooooooo experiencing a slightly less healthy hankering for Ben & Jerry's ice cream.

Let's hope you don't have my sweet tooth!!

So what does the week before your due date look like?

Well.. it looks like lots of healthy food, lots of exercise & lots of rest.

I've been a bit LOW on energy during workouts, partially from OBSESSIVELY cleaning & because moving this belly around ain't easy anymore, so I started drinking a little natural, plant-based energy booster (aka "energize") to help me out.

I have a feeling this stuff will be GOLD when we're in the sleep trenches of figuring you out & not getting any sleep :)

Our sweet neighbors invited us to relax by their pool, so mama took them up on it finally!!

Putting on a bathing suit at 39 weeks pregnant sure was an adventure.

I wonder if your fur sisters know you're coming soon!!
Tannyn, the spotted one, has been extra snuggly with you & I lately.

I ordered them some fresh flowers for their collars before you meet them - they want to be spiffy for their baby sister's homecoming!!

Speaking of that, our plan is to bring home some of your hospital blankets for them to smell & sleep with before they officially meet you.

I wonder what that will be like!?!

We're all ready, baby girl!

I just can't stop thinking about your arrival, peanut.

We pray for you multiple times a day.
We imagine seeing you the first time.
Holding you & kissing you.
What will you look like?
(besides your dad's twin, I'm sure)
What will your NAME finally be?
So many questions!!

Come soon, sweet thing.. mama's ready!

Growing Ghoens: Week 38 Bump Date

Well hey there, PUMPKIN!!! We're 38 weeks along now!

Are you as ready as I am to be together or are you super comfy in my belly?

We're all so ready for you to arrive, little one. Our sweet friends down here are doing everything they can to help us prepare for your big appearance.. from bringing dinner over to visiting us to a girls night in to pass the time.. they're trying to help distract our minds from counting down the minutes remaining of this pregnancy!!

Thanks, Hollen & Josh for dinner this week!!!

Your daddy has stepped it UP this week - taking extra good care of us!!

He's cooked dinner, made healthy treats (protein cookie cake!! recipe on my FB page from Kodiak Cakes), helped clean, run some last minute errands, massaged my back & rubbed my feet. Not to mention LOTS of last minute reading so he can be my helper during your birth! He even finished reading you the book of Genesis this week. We are SO blessed to have this guy around!!

Your mama did something pretty cool this week too. I FINALLY finished my 90 day strength training program & am OFFICIALLY a Chalene Extreme graduate. I'll post more about what this means later, but I am SO proud of being able to complete this while carrying you. I'm praying this hard work will make bringing you into the world & taking care of you easier - because I've taken care of ME & provided you with a really healthy environment to grow in.

I can't wait to workout with you & teach you how to live an EXCITING, healthy life as you grow up!

Here's one of the meals your dad whipped up this week - I've LOVED "pasta" this pregnancy. So we make veggie noodles with turkey sauce all the time. I also ate a TON of broccoli this week.. it just sounded EXTRA good for some reason :)

And while I've indulged a couple of days on some ice-cream, I've kept my sweet tooth primarily happy with our chocolate flavored superfoods/prenatal shake!!

One night, I actually mixed it with peanut butter, a little water & chopped strawberries - it was like a RICH pudding & tasted delicious. I know it doesn't LOOK that appealing, but I promise it was good. Trying my hardest to make plenty of healthy choices that outweigh our little treats here & there!

That's about it for the week! Because your dad was such a big help, mama put in some LONG hours in her office getting things with the business & our #GracefullyBalanced team situated so that I can unplug when you arrive. I promise, I'll have everything in order before you get here so I can spend all my time snuggling you & getting to know you!

Growing Ghoens: Week 37 Bump Date

37 Weeks!!! Check out that precious belly.

I've been watching it like a H A W K  to see if it's dropping any lower.

We had an ultrasound with our midwife this week & while little miss still wouldn't let us see her whole face, we did get a glimpse at her SWEET profile. I just NEVER gets old.

Her daddy & I kind of love that she's staying a bit of a mystery to us!

She officially said that this sweet girl can come ANYTIME without issue & to go with the flow. She explained to Nate the stages of labor & encouraged us to stay home as long as possible because it will be more "comfortable" to labor here.

Talk about WILD getting those instructions.

This peanut is measuring around 6 pounds now & on the teeny side. We'll see if she stays that way over the next few weeks!

This mama took some time to meet with a friend - the oh so talented Brenna Kneiss who took our maternity photos - for breakfast this week.

We went to this adorable little coffee shop in Alys Beach called Fonville Press. I'm definitely going to be taking Nate here for a coffee or lunch date sometime!

These little pumpkins//big sisters got new memory foam mattresses this week.. which they LOVE. I think they're under the impression that we were just spoiling them with a new place to cuddle up. Little do they know that this will be their new sleeping location for a while after baby girl arrives.

Workouts are still going well - challenging as always - but good!! Only TWO weeks left of this Chalene Extreme program before I'm a 90 day graduate!! Woo Woo!!!

Nate had the day off on Friday, so we met up with my parents & took the kayaks out. We started out in Lake Powell & paddled over to Inlet Beach for a few hours. My mom & Nate dug this belly a hole so I could lay on my tummy.. for the first time in MONTHS. It was so nice!

Papa Bear finished baby bear's shelves this week - and they're hung up now in her room!! Aside from filling a few frames, her room is officially DONE!! And we absolutely love it.. I'll do a blog post tour of it soon!

In the spirit of transparency, here's a little synopsis of my progress as of this week:

- gained 28 pounds
- wearing only stretchy dresses when I leave the house
- wearing shorts and sports bra only at home.. HA
- dark circles/bag under eyes first half of the day
- mostly clear skin, but pregnancy glow seems to have dimmed a bit
- no swelling in feet.. praise the Lord!
- insomnia like normal
- achy legs

From what I've read, I'm right on track!! No complaints here:)

Read through the book of Galatians this week with my accountability group - my faith keeps me so grounded. Waiting on the Lord now, as always, in this season of wait.

Not my timing, but Yours, Jesus!
Trusting YOU to know when your masterpiece is ready for us to see.

A letter to my sweet girl

Oh my, sweet sweet girl.

I'm not sure exactly what to say to you that can fully explain how I feel as I await your arrival.

Your momma feels WONDER, joy, fullness, uncertainty, purpose, happiness, excitement, humility, anxiousness, responsibility, protective, LOVE, apprehension, eagerness, anticipation & a whole lot more.

It seems like just yesterday we were trying for you. Celebrating a positive test. Praying over our initial lab work. Awaiting your first ultrasound. Praising Jesus over your little heart beat. Counting down to your gender reveal. Arriving at the halfway point. Dreaming up your nursery. Assembling your crib. And fervently surrendering your development to Jesus.

Now we're less than 2 weeks from your due date. Aware you could surprise us at any time. Wondering if we're eating dinner, going to bed, waking up, etc the last time as a family of two. Overwhelmed by the excitement that lies before us, but fully aware of the responsibility God has given us to raise you. And what a privilege it is.

You're not here yet & we couldn't be more honored to be the ones chosen as your parents.

To shepherd your heart.
To nurture your spirit.
To watch you grow.
To love you.
To teach you about Jesus.

To watch you hopefully surrender your life to Him at a young age.
And live a life of purpose for His glory.

Your daddy & I, we would have never dreamed this up. Or have imagined that we would have these feelings about raising a family. We went so many years living out our own plans - not realizing God would change our hearts so drastically. And that a desire so strong to grow our family would burn inside each of us.

I think my heart might explode meeting you, little one.
Seeing the miracle that you are, finally in the flesh.
Watching you wiggle & squirm.
Seeing the qualities of your dad & I in you.
Discovering the love of being a parent.
Experiencing the ups & downs that come with it.
Realizing that God is going to draw us close to Him in the process.

Wow.

We're on the precipice of something wonderful.
And I have butterflies.

Come soon, sweet one.

We love you!!

Growing Ghoens: Week 36 Bump Date

9 Months.. Just like that..

Holy Smokes.

I'm literally not sure how this pregnancy is flying by so fast.
While I feel that time is literally slipping through my fingers like grains of sand, it also can't move quickly enough for me to be able to hold you, little one!!

Week 36 started out pretty special - on Mother's Day. I got my first official card & a gift certificate from the hubs for a pedicure. He knows that the struggle is REAL now to reach my own toes. HA!

The day before, I did my usual Saturday cardio routine. That night, it triggered my first series of pretty intense contractions. For about 3 hours we wondered if I would continue to progress beyond contractions every 3-4 minutes, but things ended up slowing back down entirely on their own to very frequent Braxton Hicks without pain.

Neither of us were rattle by the situation, but it reminded us both of how CLOSE we actually are to the big day & the fact that my body is going to do this whether we're "ready or not."

Ready or not..

This is scary for some gals, but for me - it's actually comforting.
The fact that I can't control any of this & literally am along for the ride is yet another reminder of how our bodies as women were literally created to grow & birth little humans. What a blessing & honor that is!!! Thank you, Jesus!

After that burst of excitement, we decided there was NO better time to get the car seat all set up! We took a trip to my sisters house to visit her, my brother in law & niece for Mother's Day lunch & to pick up their infant car seat we're borrowing.

It's pretty cool that my older sister & I will have babies on 10 months apart from each other!! We're all so grateful to be near each other in this season!

Car seat installation: CHECK - a BIG baby do list item is officially crossed off!!

This was a BIG week for my baby do list. Every day we were knocking things out.. I think it all started with getting that car seat put in. After that, it was like the domino affect kicked in! And it felt GREAT!!

That being said - nesting has continued with a vengeance. For both of us - but especially this mama bear!!

The organized planner inside of me is LOVING this "excuse" to get things in order around the house - although I know right now this is literally for survival! haha.

I made about 10 freezer meals this week that I can either throw right into the oven or dump in the crock pot when we need them. I'll be sure to blog about those recipes soon! Thank God for pinterest inspiration from mamas who have gone before me :)

Freezer Meals: another big CHECK off our list this week.
I KNOW exhausted, PP lindsey will be thanking me for this in a few more weeks!

Speaking of exhausted ;)

These snapshots after a couple of my workouts this week are pretty self explanatory. I haven't eased up a bit on my training schedule - in fact, I'm on week 2 of this final 30 day block of Chalene Extreme. However, I sure am tired!!

Sleep is happening less & less as my body continues to grow//become more uncomfortable. SO I don't have quite the same energy during my workouts or put out as hard as I usually would. But it's funny how at the end of my 45 minutes I'm still absolutely drenched, as if I had just completed the hardest workout of my life :)

#CantStopWontStop

I know the gals in my May accountability group are proud of me for keeping up my commitment to myself, this baby & our challenge together - I hope they know how big of a role they play in keeping me motivated!!

{Want to know more about these online accountability groups? Email me at lindseykollar@yahoo.com }

Another big baby prep moment of the week that I crossed off the list (can you tell I'm on FIRE right now!?): interviewing a pediatrician!!

Although I had a few questions about vaccination schedules, I walked into that appointment like a deer in headlights. I asked a couple questions, but totally owned my rookie status & said that I would let her know what else I thought of later on when the baby arrived.

Y'all. I could hardly think objectively.
I was way too busy trying to mentally process the shock of sitting in a pediatric office that was covered in toys, playing disney songs & had cartoons on the tv.

At the end of the day - it was a good visit & I think we found a decent option for the next year or so of us living here. That's a win!

Next up on my list: hospital go bags, packing the diaper bag, making our last minute list before we head to the hospital & finalizing gifts for our nursing/medical team.

This was a lot of fun for me - especially the part of getting things ready for other people. I LOVE giving gifts of appreciation. So gathering goodies and baking muffins to take to the hospital was a blast for me.

While this next item was a big one on our list, it moreso felt like a passing a milestone for us in this baby prep season. Like okay, now we can realllllllly have the baby: MATERNITY PHOTOS

I spent the weekend before shopping around for some dress options, which was quite the adventure. Thanks to everyone on FB who weighed in & helped me with feedback on the options I had chosen!!

At the beginning of the week, we finally met with our photographer & got them done. I can't wait to see the finished product - I'm sure they'll be GORGEOUS. Although if there were real life outtakes, you'd see all the bug swatting & SWEATING that was happening due to this insane Florida heat & humidity. Ha!

So grateful we were able to capture this precious bump! Although next time, I'll probably try to do photos a little earlier so I'm not as GIANT & sweaty :)

What else.. what else.

OH, our play gym came in this week from a small business called Spebarn & Sprout that I actually found a couple of months ago on Pinterest. The owner of this business is a stay at home, working mama from Portland, Oregon who hand makes each item with love.

If you're looking for a play gym, mobile, etc I would absoutely check her out (on the web or on IG). Help support another hustling mama who is working hard to be home with her babies!!

I spent lots of time in the nursery this week, wrapping up some last minute things & helping hubby narrow down a stain color for the shelves we're putting up soon. I feel SO close to this little girl when I sit in her room and watch her move in my belly. A nearly full term baby separated by what feels like just a layer of skin. It's AMAZING to watch her react to certain noises & touches of mine.

I will cherish these memories FOREVER, sweet girl!!

 Little one, you're almost here.

Our midwife officially told us this week that you can really come at any time now & you'd be fine.

I'm fine if you bake a little longer, but if God gives you the green light, you go ahead & come on!! We're ready!

Mommy & Daddy love you to the moon!!
